Pennsylvania Rehabilitation Council Committees

Committee meetings are open to the public and are held virtually via Zoom by computer or phone. Access to virtual only meetings is also available at the UCP/PaRC Office, 55 Utley Drive, Camp Hill, PA.

To confirm attendance, request reasonable accommodations, or submit public comments in advance, please contact PaRC at parc@parehabilitationcouncil.org or 717-975-2004. Attendance confirmations must be sent at least three 3 days before, and accommodation requests at least ten 10 days prior to each meeting. Zoom access information will be provided upon confirmation of attendance.

The Council has 6 standing Committees in addition to the Executive Committee.  Periodically, the Executive Committee may recommend an Ad Hoc Committee for a limited period of time to address a specific need.

PaRC Social Media Committee work includes:

  • Maintaining and updating the PaRC Social Media Handbook that includes guidelines and best practices for effectively using Social Media
  • Promoting and increasing awareness of OVR and the Council’s mission through the PaRC website and social media pages.
  • Informing public of OVR services
  • Promoting PaRC and OVR online and at various events across the state
  • Publishing OVR Customer Success Stories
  • Revising Bi-Monthly Newsletter and increasing engagement
  • Monitoring and updating the PaRC Website, social media, newsletter, and other publications
  • Promoting interagency collaborations regarding employment for people with disabilities as they arise

The PaRC CareerLink Committee work includes:

  • Collaborating with OVR to help the Workforce Development Board (WDB) to ensure each CareerLink is physically and programmatically accessible at all its locations
  • Identifying, reviewing, and monitoring the CareerLink reportage system
  • Increasing the PaRC’s participation in State and local WDB meetings
  • Reviewing and informing the Council on issues related to WIOA

PaRC Governance Committee work includes:

  • Reviewing and revising the Council By-Laws annually
  • Reviewing and revising PaRC Member Handbook, policies and procedures annually.
  • Reviewing and revising member recruitment procedures annually
  • Recruitment of new members
  • Monitoring attendance of Full Council and Committee meetings
  • Overseeing the election of Council Officers annually
  • Facilitating the appointment of PaRC members to outside boards, commissions, and committees

PaRC Legislative Committee work includes:

  • Increasing PaRC advocacy on behalf of persons with disabilities toward obtaining and maintaining employment
  • Increasing advocacy on behalf of returning disabled veterans regarding employment and employment services
  • Developing collaborative relationships with other organizations, which have similar missions and mutual legislative goals, to maximize our combined legislative impact for people with disabilities

The PaRC Policy Committee work includes:

  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with the Department of Labor and Industry, OVR, and the Bureau of Workforce Partnership & Operations.
  • Monitoring of OVR policies and procedures.
  • Working with OVR to significantly increase information received from the Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS).
  • Partnering with OVR to develop, implement and review the comprehensive statewide needs assessment survey.
  • Partnering with OVR to review due process issues to assure good quality outcomes for consumer customers.

The PaRC Transition & Education Committee work includes:

 

  • Participating at the Transition Conference and the PA Department of Education’s (PDE) PADES annual conference for outreach and awareness to the public about what the PaRC does and the purpose
  • Improving communication with Bureau of Special Education (BSE) regarding transition
  • Monitoring the increase of competitive integrated employment options through the Employment First Law
  • Monitoring OVR and the Department of Education’s efforts to implement the best practices regarding transition
  • Evaluating OVR’s policies and training programs at Hiram G. Andrews College to assure that students are receiving top
  • technical training and certifications in an integrated setting
